Lately, I have been feeling increasingly anxious about the general health of our country and the world. Even in my comfortable bubble, I am finding it harder and harder to tune out all the problems around the globe today. Immigration, gun violence, climate change, and the rise of anti-Semitism and white supremacy top the list. And there are so many more sub-themes to all of these that I find myself getting overwhelmed. I often wonder what I can do to truly make a difference, and I am unsure what the best path is, so I end up doing nothing more than just throwing money at various causes. Although that is something, I know that is not enough.
Through my writing, I am hoping to be a voice for change. As a ghostwriter, I see the possibility of being the “voice of the voiceless” speaking out for those who cannot speak for themselves, for whatever reason. As I wrote in a previous blog, our voices matter, and the more people speak up, the more chance there is that sustainable positive changes can come about.
The other night, after learning of the shooting in Denver, I found myself once again in despair, wondering what it will take to end this madness. To this end, I wrote a short story which you can read in my next blog post. Stay tuned!
